The term ‘Black Barrel’ was used because some of the spirit is matured in heavily charred 1st fill bourbon casks. This charring gives more cask influence with some butterscotch, dark chocolate and vanilla flavours coming through. The remainder of the casks used are 1st and 2nd fill bourbon barrels which add some balancing sweetness to the blend.
