A mid-weight Mencia, with gentle but firm tannins balanced by dark cherry and bramble fruit. Fresh acidity drives a decent-length finish and floral and herbal complexity makes this an engaging glass of wine. Generally mid-weight in style but the warmer '22 vintage shows a more generous, full body. Tannins are still balanced but savoury and more full-bodied than usual. A wine that benefits from time in decanter, or to open up in the glass.Food match

Production
Grapes are harvested from a combination of premium vineyard sites, of both old and new vines, planted in terraces at 100-700m above sea level. The fruit (Garnacha, Carinena, Cabernet Sauvignon, along with 10% Merlot and 5% Syrah) is fermented in 1.5t open top fermenters and hand plunged daily. Each parcel is matured separately for 12 months in a combination of both new (70%) and older (30%) French oak barriques.Tasting notes
A rich and intense aroma of black cherry, liquorice and toasty oak. Ripe plum, rosemary and vanilla characteristics on the poised palate with smooth yet powerful tannins. Notes of leather and spice on the finish.Food pairing
Slow-cooked shoulder of lamb, or rabbit braised with olive and herbs. -

TASTING NOTES: Deep purple in colour, violet and spice aromas. The palate is medium to full bodied, with ripe tannins and graphite and black pepper flavours. WINEMAKERS NOTES: Harvested early April mainly from our Settlement 2 vineyard on the Gimblett Gravels. Tank fermented with regular oxidative pump overs. Aged in 2-3 year old French barrels.
